Do I qualify?
You qualify for a clothing allowance if:
- You are a veteran with a service-connected disability or with a disability compensable under 38 U.S.C. 1151 that requires you to wear or use a prosthetic or orthopedic device that wears out or tears clothing, or
- You are a veteran who uses, for a service connected skin condition, medication prescribed by a physician which causes irreparable damage to your outer garments. (This does not include stains that may be removed fro regular laundering or dry cleaning.)
*Note: Granting of clothing allowance for a skin condition must be re-evaluated yearly prior to allowance being received.
What are my yearly allowances?
The current yearly clothing allowance is $616 per year as of December 1, 2004.
How can I apply?
To apply, submit VA Form 10-8678, Application for Annual Clothing Allowance, with your local VA office.
