Are you worried that you have lost coverage because your policy has lapsed?
If you have a term life insurance policy: Lapsed term policies may be reinstated within five years from the date of lapse. A five-year term policy that is not lapsed at the end of the term is automatically renewed for an additional five years.
If you have a permanent life insurance policy: Your lapsed permanent plan may be reinstated within certain time limits and with certain health requirements.
Repayment of all back premiums, plus interest, is required to reinstate policies.
How to Apply:
- If it has been less than 6 months since your lapse, apply using VA Form 29-353, Application for Reinstatement.
- If it has been more than 6 months since your lapse, apply using VA Form 29-352, Application for Reinstatement.
